About The Principles of Planning and Design Course:

The City and Guilds 3667-03 Level 3 course in Principles of Designing and Planning a Communications Infrastructure is a mandatory unit and must be completed by every candidate alongside at least one other unit. 


​There are six learning outcomes to this unit:

  • Explain the terms and definitions used and list the different types of communications infrastructures

  • Explain the principles of planning and its importance to its drivers

  • Explain the importance of UK 3rd party issues

  • Discuss the relevance in the UK of Operator License, other legislative requirements and Codes of Practice

  • Interpret a customer need in terms of an engineering scope of works

  • Use project management tools and techniques and other supporting documentation.


Once the full course is completed, candidates may progress either onto one of the optional modules listed below:
