This unit includes unit 101 communications principles it is also concerned with the installation, splicing, connectors, termination and testing of fibre optic cable in a typical data communications environment, characterised by low fibre count cables (typically less than 24 fibres) terminated in patch panels/equipment racks. Extensivily used in Data Centres, Offices, School & University Campuses and commercial building

This would usually take place in an indoor environment involving multimode LAN Environment and end-to-end cabling.

1. Work safely with optical fibres in an internal environment
2. Follow recommended installation procedures
3. Prepare fibre optic cable for fibre connectors and splicing
4. Splice together optical fibres using Fusion splicing and Mechanical splicing
5. Terminate fibre optic cables by fitting connectors
6. Test fibre optic links in accordance to industry standards

During the course you will be assessed by industry approved trainers, on completion you will be required to sit, an on line examination of around 50 multiple choice questions then you will be awarded C&G 3667-02 full certificate and Unit 2 certificate.
