TNS Europe were selected by a consortium of companies to assist in the design and installation of a new fibre network in Ghana, West Africa, the project was to supply broadband to the rural communities, the private complex needed an Ariel installation of fibre around the complex, and connect specialist equipment using a single fibre working solution.
The network was built with 100% resilience providing two fibres to each node which connects to the main power supply feeding the homes, in the homes a special CPE is connected to the supply where it converts the signal and it provides service for both voice and data.

TNS Europe trained eight local staff from a Ghanaian company to assist in the installation and so they could maintain the network on completion, TNS Europe installed a complete fibre network around the complex, the project was to use a Powerline solution, which provided connectivity over the main electricity supply, the initial project took over 3 months to plan and two weeks to complete the training and installation of the network.

The project was a huge success, the community now has access to the internet and additional facilities like VOIP, further projects are now being planned with TNS Europe as the main contractor, TNS Europe met with officials from numerous utility companies from Ghana, who showed very keen interest in the project as it provides a cost effective solution for broadband especially in the rural community where no infrastructure is available.
