Voice and Data Communications Training with TNS
The networking and data cabling industry offers many job opportunities for individuals with different skill sets and interests. TNS Europe is proud to be a leader in top-class training for network installation and maintenance, including our four-day Data and Structured Cabling course. This course has no prerequisites and it is taught using a model that includes 60% to 70% hands-on training.
The primary difference between this course and most of our other networking and data cabling courses is that goes above and beyond data-only network installation and troubleshooting. The training is a comprehensive course that delves into the arena of voice and data communications and the European and UK standards that govern the deployment of advanced networks. Delegates who take this course will learn the following:
- Principles of coaxial cabling
- Principles of telephony voice cabling
- Data Cabling, Cat5E, Cat6, Cat6A UTP, Sc/FTP, FTP
- Local-area network (LAN) evolution
- Principles of network topology
- Fundamentals of data and voice transmission
- Physical medium and connector termination
- Network testing and warranty
- Network design basics
- Cabling systems overview – current and future.
Delegates should know that the course is endorsed by City & Guilds and the Fibre Optic Industry Association (FIA). Upon completion of the course, delegates will be awarded the City & Guilds 3667-02 Copper Cabling and Principles of Communication Systems certificates. Delegates will have to pass a practical examination and two online exams from City & Guilds in order to be awarded certification.
Best Candidates for Training
Successful completion of the Data and Structured Cabling course results in delegates becoming certified data installers. It is an excellent course for anyone seeking to get into the data cabling and networking industry as an installer and tester. However, the training is optimal for particular types of jobs including data cabling installation engineer, data centre engineer, installation engineer, broadband engineer, and similar positions.
Across the UK, there are technology companies looking for qualified engineers capable of handling both voice and data cabling rather than just one or the other. In the world of IT, combined data and voice are the future. Old technologies that separate data and voice into distinct networks are fading fast in favour of newer, faster combined networks using fibre-optic cabling and, where practical, coaxial cabling.
This shift in network design requires the installation of new network hardware, including mile after mile of data cabling. Keep in mind that we have not even scratched the surface of this new networking paradigm, at least in terms of connecting all of the UK to it. There will be plenty of work for years to come for those with the right training and certification.
Voice and data cabling offers you the opportunity for a rewarding career in networking. Please contact TNS Europe for more information about this course or any of the other courses we offer. We are here to help you get the training you need, whether you are just getting started in the industry or you are looking to add to your current skill set.
