About the City and Guilds 3668 Qualifications

City & Guilds Accredited programme logo

Total Network Solutions (Europe) Ltd are proud to be delivering City & Guilds 3668-02 Communications Cabling.  Total Network Solutions have been delivering various training schemes since 2009. This qualification has been around for over 20 years and is highly recognised throughout the Telecommunications and data network cabling industry, it was introduced because of the specialist skills required in fibre optic and network data cabling, the course is continually updated and relates to the latest standards.

The fibre optics industry has a major skills shortage with most providers now moving towards fibre optic solutions to deliver faster broadband speeds. Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) is the usual chosen method of delivery, this has become more efficient and therefore more popular than Fibre To The Cabinet/Curb (FTTc). Many service providers are choosing pure fibre solutions on point to point (PT2P), passive optical networks (PON) and point to multi point solutions.

The qualifications from City & Guilds provides individuals with a vocational qualification that is recognised throughout the industry including the Electrical Contractors Scheme (ECS), with ECS your 3668-02 or 3668-03 qualification will allow you to apply for the datacomms scheme, which will then allow you on sites. The City and Guilds 3668-02 is the starting point for anyone wishing to gain knowledge in fibre optics and network data cabling. The full qualification at level 2 Communications Cabling allows you to become a Certified Network Installer.

The City and Guilds 3668 programme is a recognised qualification endorsed by the Fibre optic Industry Association (FIA-Online). To work for some employers you may also need specific accreditation’s as a foundation, there are then specific accreditation's for the likes of Openreach. Some training providers may say the City and Guilds is not recognised, it is and it also vocational which means you are qualified in the practical skills as well as the theory.

TNS Europe can assist with Openreach accreditation’s and FOA qualifications like Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or Fiber Optic Specialist fibre to the Home (CFOS/H), Optical Local Area Network specialist or blown fibre. If you have a formal recognised qualification then any specialist accreditation’s after can be done after.
